In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with a computer scientist from South Korea whose research was particularly focused on creating computer-based devices for a multitude of applications ranging from medical rehabilitation to sewer systems. We showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. His work had been published in 6 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as being presented at numerous conferences. At the time we filed his case, these publications had received no fewer than 39 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the importance of our client’s work: “[Client] investigated an extremely elusive area of research in biochemical waste monitoring and successfully invented a tool that assists in ensuring the safety of our waste system. Prior to [Client’s] investigation…there were no previous mechanisms that could measure and sense the toxic levels of gas inside of the sewers. Such a situation posed a threat to the public …[Client] was able to design a sophisticated mechanism…to address the aforementioned issues.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 25 days.
