Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group – WeGreened.com represented a Postdoctoral Research Associate from Sri Lanka in the Field of Ecosystem Ecology. Her work has focused specifically on the development of effective methods for applying remote sensing data, including satellite images, to the characterization of remote, spatially large, or otherwise difficult to study ecosystems such as arid rangelands and coastal wetlands. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving her highly significant contributions to Ecosystem Ecology, including 6 peer-reviewed journal articles, 4 peer-reviewed articles in conference proceedings, 1 book chapter, and numerous conference presentations. Her publications had been cited at least 41 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are recognized and relied upon in the field. She has also been invited to perform peer-review work for several academic books. As stated by one independent recommender, “She has repeatedly demonstrated a knack for adapting streamlining, and improving the approaches used to study threatened ecosystems, and it would be difficult to find another coastal wetland ecosystems management researcher with an equivalent record of innovation and success in her field.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 20 days.
