Case Summary:

In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with a mechanical engineer from Iran whose research was particularly focused on the optimization of biomedical devices and robots used in surgical settings and the development of enhanced components of ultra-deepwater oil production technologies. We showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. His work had been published in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as 9 conference papers. At the time we filed his case, these publications had received no fewer than 33 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the importance of our client’s work: “Traditional methods for surgical interventions including aspiration and needle placement pose significant dangers due to blind insertion. Employing robots for these procedures reduces such issues while increasing accuracy and control[Client’s] work contributes directly to the medical industries, thereby influencing the global population as a whole by increasing researchers' abilities to enhance national health care, increase patient quality of life, and reduce associated monetary costs.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in five months and twelve days.
