We recently had the opportunity to work with a postdoctoral research associate from India on his EB-1B case, where the petitioner was a private university. The beneficiary’s specialized biological research has focused on examining and understanding fundamental cellular processes and their relationships, and his outstanding ability, highly skilled background, and impressive record of achievement provided a strong case for his EB-1B petition. His work had resulted in 7 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 11 national and international conference presentations. The 169 citations his work had received, from independent researchers at prestigious institutions worldwide, amply demonstrates the international acclaim for his work, as well as its major significance. He had also reviewed at least 6 manuscripts for 6 distinctive, internationally-circulated journals by case filing. An independent recommender remarked on the significance of the beneficiary’s work: “Mitochondrial dynamics are extremely important and defects in those dynamics have been implicated in a number of neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s, which are worldwide health problems. One of [Beneficiary’s] projects focused on the formin protein INF2 and its role in mitochondrial fission. … Overall, the main findings of the study were that mitochondrial fission requires the actin cytoskeleton, that the INF2 formin protein controls fission, and that INF2 plays a direct role in mitochondrial fission and indirect role in mitochondrial fusion. … One of the reasons this study was so impactful was that it was the first time the role of actin in mitochondrial fission had been investigated.” It was our goal to prove that this beneficiary qualified for classification as an outstanding professor or researcher given the international recognition for his outstanding achievements.  With the proof and documentation that we provided, his case was approved in six days.
