Case Summary:
With extensive research experience in the field of petroleum engineering and a doctoral degree in the same field, a China-born reservoir engineer hired North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) to help her secure an I-140 EB-1A petition (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval. Filing an I-140 petition is the first step in obtaining permanent residency in the United States. The second involves filing an I-485 application (if the applicant resides in the US), or undergoing immigrant visa processing (if the applicant is outside the US).
A survey of our client’s achievements convinced us that her specialized research on the characterization of shale reservoirs using computational modeling helps the United States in understanding kerogen wettability and fluid behaviors. Moreover, her strong background in operations management, unconventional gas technology, and reservoir modeling allows her research to be particularly original, with applications such as reducing groundwater contamination, improving hydrocarbon reserve estimates, and maximizing profitability in the energy industry. The contents of one such recommendation letter is noteworthy. It stated: “She is a uniquely qualified petroleum engineer, boasting proficiencies in machine learning, industrial engineering, and applied mathematics. There are few other researchers with such broad abilities or a more substantial level of accomplishment in this discipline.” These letters undoubtedly proved to the USCIS that our client has tremendous influence in the field of petroleum engineering.
As per our client’s instructions, we filed her EB1A petition with Premium Processing (PP). This led the USCIS to take quick action on her case and her petition was approved within 11 days of filing (instead of the usual 4-9 months). Now, the only thing that stands in her way to permanent residency is the I-485 application, and we wish her the very best with this step.
