Case Summary:

In this case we were offered a chance to work with a PhD student and research assistant from Iran whose work focused on optimizing heat transfer, fluid flow, and other mechanisms critical to energy efficiency. We were able to demonstrate that his continued employment in the field would be of distinct benefit to both his field of mechanical engineering and the general populace of the United States. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving the high significance of his contributions to the field, including his at least 18 peer-reviewed scientific articles and conference presentations. At the time of filing, his publications had been cited no fewer than 202 times by independent researchers across the globe, showing the wide recognition of and reliance upon his work. An independent recommender offered an enthusiastic confirmation of the importance of our client’s work: “[T]he cornucopia of parameters that need to be optimized to maintain high heat transfer performance mean that entropy is often a problem when dealing with fully developed laminar natural convection in-cavities with heated partitions. In response to this challenge, [Client] … develop[ed] his own Fortran code, which he summarily used to compute fluid flow, heat transfer and entropy generation distribution values with supreme accuracy and precision. This allowed him to investigate convection activity much more closely than would otherwise be possible. … He also elucidated, for the first time, the extent of the correlation between heat transfer and entropy generation. These are revolutionary findings.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in six months and five days.
