Case Summary:

In this case we were offered the opportunity to work with a Chinese researcher in natural medicinal chemistry, whose work had focused specifically on the identification of medicinal active ingredients and application of naturally occurring products, such as green tea and Solanum nigrum. As part of our successful strategy for our client’s case, we submitted extensive documentation proving her highly significant contributions to her field, which included 4 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers and presentations.  This work had received at least 82 citations by the time we filed her case, nearly all of which were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating the wide recognition of and reliance upon our client’s work in her field. We also showed that her continued employment in his field would benefit both her field as a whole and the people of the United States in general. An independent recommender confirmed the importance of her work: “[Client’s] separation and identification of saponins in Solanum nigrum not only opens the door to novel therapeutic agents but opens a window into the molecular mechanism of the anti-cancer effect of traditional botanic medicine, granting access to novel cancer-fighting therapies.” We successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in six months and eleven days.
