Case Summary:

Last year, North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) filed an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on behalf of an Iranian senior advisor working in the field of electrical engineering. Nebraska Service Center spent 8.5 months adjudicating his case before deciding that he deserved the national interest waiver.

Shaping a strong case:

Our attention-to-detail and relentless pursuit of excellence resulted in a comprehensive EB-2 NIW petition dossier. It contained a myriad of information that appertained to our client’s leadership role in the field of electrical engineering. Together with details of our client’s development of high-level computer algorithms, we also noted the 84 citations to his work, and the publication of his 18 scientific articles, 3 books, and numerous presentations and publications at international conferences.

The statement above was made by a prominent member of the international electrical engineering research community. He was steadfast in his support of our client’s petition and was joined by six of his peers. They each signed a recommendation letter, all of which confirmed the value of our client’s research to the United States.

With a doctoral degree and extensive experience in the field, we demonstrated that our client’s substitution with another similarly qualified electrical engineer would not bode well for the United States. We proved this by highlighting his research ingenuity which contributes to the stability of national energy grids and to the national economy by advancing new fields such as electric vehicles and the smart energy grid. Additionally, his wireless power transmission research efforts are contributing to the country’s economy by advancing this new area of opportunity.

Undergoing Immigrant Visa Processing (IVP):

Green card applicants have two options to get permanent residency: if they are based in the U.S., they will file an I-485 application whereas if they live abroad, they will undergo IVP at an American embassy or consulate. As there is no U.S. embassy or consulate in Iran, our client and his dependent will undergo IVP at one of the American embassies in the region: Ankara, Turkey; Abu Dhabi, UAE; or Yerevan, Armenia. We wish them the best with this and look forward to welcoming them to the U.S. as official green card holders.
