Success Stories: In Just 5 Months, NIW Approval Made Possible for a Development Specialist I in Chemical Engineering from India

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for all the assistance and expertise in the filing process.”

On May 26th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Development Specialist I in the Field of Chemical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Chemical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Development Specialist I

Country of Origin: India

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New York

Approval Notice Date: May 26th, 2022

Processing Time: 5 months, 7 days

Case Summary:

As an expert in the field of chemical engineering, our NIW(National Interest Waiver) client’s proposed endeavor was to continue his research on developing state-of-the-art adsorption processes for the production of industrial gasses relevant to a variety of industries. He wanted to utilize his extensive experience with materials chemistry, solid-state characterization techniques, process analytical technology, and chemical process molding. It became quickly apparent to us that his research related to adsorption processes for the production of industrial gases has substantial merit and is also of national importance because it is greatly advantageous to the global fight against climate change. This is why one of his 4 recommendations had the following quote:

“[Client’s] study into the efficiency of carbon capture technology holds direct value for carbon capture facilities and their ability to operate efficiently and cost-effectively. Perhaps most importantly, [the client] has provided a host of new and innovative methods for capturing CO2 using adsorbent-based techniques, and he has therefore profoundly impacted the chemical engineering discipline worldwide.”

Thus, due to its clear national importance, his research has been supported by funding from several major national organizations such as the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center, the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory and Center for Understanding and Control of Acid-Gas induced Evolution of Materials for Energy, and the company Global Thermostat LLC.

Academically speaking, his work has made him an experienced scholar who has been to complete 8 reviews to date. His research has resulted in 11 peer-reviewed journal articles (4 of them first-authored) which have been cited a total of 206 times, according to Google Scholar.

Furthermore, his 10 years of service in the field have equipped him with the necessary skills to continue his work here in the United States. Thus another of his recommendation read:

“[The client] has produced groundbreaking findings related to the advancement of carbon dioxide capture technology, most notably through his research study on polymeric amine-loaded silica sorbents. [Client’s] versatile skillset and expertise are a valuable asset to the United States as we pursue cleaner technology and industrial operations. His presence in the U.S. is thus necessary for such progress to continue at its present pace.”

We are glad to have worked with him on this project and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
