Approval Notice Date: February 18th, 2016

Case Summary:

NSC spent close to four months adjudicating our client’s EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) case. Our client is a postdoctoral fellow working in the field of medicinal chemistry and has years of professional experience developing novel compounds for disease treatment and drug development.

Amongst other things, our client’s petition packet was comprised of her record of achievement: 22 citations to her 5 publications and a copy of her doctorate in organic chemistry. Using these accomplishments as examples, we demonstrated that her insights are heavily relied upon by members of her field. We also made clear that our client’s investigations are absolutely necessary on a global level, where effective cancer treatment, food-borne diseases, and other illnesses are major concerns for humankind. We attentively documented her various research ventures and sought the help of other medicinal chemists to outline her research in more detail through recommendation letters.

For instance, a prominent professor engaged in the field had this to say about one of our client’s projects: “As one of the leading causes of death around the world, cancer claims millions of lives each year. If we are to reduce this statistic and improve the quality of life for people around the world, it is essential that we continue to support research, such as [Client’s], which strive to develop novel treatments.”

These recommendation letters also exhibited firm support for our client to continue her research efforts in the United States and that other researchers in the field greatly benefit from her work. One of her recommenders wrote, “[Client] is a rare individual whose expertise in both research and development has pioneered crucial advancements in critical, highly challenging anticancer efforts that will continue to impact the United States’ global leadership in cancer research and therapy for decades to come.”

In short, our compilation of supporting facts combined with our client’s qualifications motivated the USCIS to approve this EB-2 NIW case. We recently filed I-485 applications for our client and her spouse, and we look forward to receiving their permanent residency approval notice.
