Case Summary:

Some time ago, a postdoctoral research associate from India sought our help in filing an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition. The petition we prepared and submitted for her detailed her Ph.D. in Life Sciences and years of experience in the field of neurobiology. After the average processing time elapsed, we raised a service request with the USCIS. Their ensuing Request for Evidence (RFE) elicited a rapid and thorough response from us. We handled all aspects of communication with the USCIS, which gave our client time to focus on her important work. Over a year after submitting the EB-2 NIW petition, we received an approval notice.

Our client researches the interplay between abnormal cardiac function and neuronal control mechanisms. Among other breakthroughs, she has shown that obstructive sleep apnea-like conditions blunt heart rate responses and alter neurotransmission to cardiac vagal neurons. We demonstrated that her work is of great value to the United States’ medical community and that no other researcher with similar experience can achieve what she has. Other scientists in our client’s field concur, and several of these experts contributed recommendation letters to her I-140 petition. One of these letters read, “I am convinced that [Client’s] unique experimental studies on cardiac vagal neurons represent just one part of her magnificent success as a researcher in physiology, neuroscience and pharmacology. Altogether, she has performed research for mitigating ischemia and for treating cardiac side effects from common American maladies such as depression and obstructive sleep apnea, making her original scientific contributions vital to the USA’s national interests.”

We believe that North America Immigration Law Group’s ability to demonstrate the merit of our client’s work to the country encouraged the approval of her EB-2 NIW, and we wish our client the best in her continued investigations.
