On September 15th, 2017, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Research Assistant in the Field of Mechanical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Mechanical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Research Assistant

Country of Origin: Vietnam

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Maryland

Approval Notice Date: September 15th, 2017

Processing Time: 6 months, 6 days

Case Summary:

With an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and years of experience conducting insightful research, a research assistant from Vietnam was ready to pursue the national interest waiver. Despite his strong credentials, he needed our help to present a concise case to the USCIS. After months of hard work, we successfully gathered a wealth of information pertaining to our client’s work in the field of mechanical engineer. We then carefully arranged the data to demonstrate the value of his work to the United States.

As part of our legal strategy, we established that our client’s findings on 3D imaging, optics, and computer vision are applied in a number of industrial and academic research areas of interest to the United States, such as the automotive, augmented reality, face regconitionand health monitoring. We further strengthened our client’s NIW case by highlighting his various achievements. For instance, we noted his four peer-reviewed journal articles (one of them first-authored) and six peer-review conference articles as well as the 73 citations collected from his work.

In addition to the aforementioned information, we also incorporated recommendation letters signed by other well-known mechanical engineers. These experts attested to the fact that our client’s work is important to the field as a whole and that he should be allowed to continue his research in the US. As an example, this is what one of our client’s recommenders noted in his letter: “[Client] has provided benefits to the computer science and computer vision fields as a whole, but also to the U.S. economy, historical and anthropological realms, humanities, and various medical procedures.”

Exactly 6 months and 6 days after North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) filed the NIW petition, the USCIS approved it. We congratulate our client for surpassing the first hurdle in the green card process, and we thank him for choosing our firm to represent his case.

Our client recently informed us that he received his green card with the help of our DIY Packet (offered free-of-charge to all I-140 clients). We congratulate him on this major win and wish him the best as embarks on new beginnings here in the US.
