“Thank you very much for everything!”

On November 4th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Assistant Professor in the Field of Civil Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Civil Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Assistant Professor

Country of Origin: Turkey

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Turkey

Approval Notice Date: November 4th, 2022

Processing Time: 3 month, 4 days

Case Summary:

A civil engineering expert from Turkey approached us for his NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition. Armed with a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering his proposed endeavor was to work on advancing the application of various optimization and artificial intelligence techniques in order to reduce the economic costs and environmental impact of structural analysis and design. Among other applications, his research is relevant to maintaining and monitoring infrastructure, enhancing the design process, proving novel techniques for optimizing infrastructure, and reducing the environmental impact of building new structures. So it goes without saying that his research is of great importance because it addresses vital issues regarding the growing demand for improved infrastructure around the world.

Moreover, the existing infrastructure in the country is under significant stress due to population growth and additional challenges from extreme weather and climate change. His work on applying novel computer modeling methods for the simulation and optimization of structures has made substantial strides in assessing structural integrity and ensuring structural safety. His work also makes monitoring and maintaining structures easier, while also enhancing the design process to make the building of new structures more efficient, which is essential for meeting growing global demand. Thus his proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States.

Due to his knowledge and expertise in structural engineering, composite structures, and steel structures, he has been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for authoritative journals in the field and has completed at least 8 reviews to date. As well as his research has resulted in 10 peer-reviewed journal articles (6 of them first-authored), 6 conference papers (5 of them first-authored), 3 book chapters (all of them first-authored), and 1 book which have been cited a total of 84 times according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of civil engineering.

So, his 19 years of experience in the field added up to immense experience granting him a hand above the other researchers in his area of expertise. So when his NIW approval came through in just 4 months, we were proud to have helped him in the successful completion of the process.
