WeGreened Approval Statistics: Week of July 28, 2025

During the week of July 28 to August 3, 2025, WeGreened received a total of 77 approval notices from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) category continued to lead in volume, representing over 74% of approvals, while the EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) category maintained a strong presence among high-achieving researchers and professionals.

Approval Distribution by Category and Service Center

Of the 77 approvals, 57 were for NIW, 15 for EB1A, 1 for EB1B (Outstanding Professors or Researchers), and 4 for O1A (Individuals with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement). The Nebraska Service Center processed 7 EB1A and 36 NIW approvals, while the Texas Service Center handled 8 EB1A and 15 NIW approvals. Five NIW cases were transferred from NSC to TSC, and one NIW case was transferred from TSC to NSC.

EB1A and NIW Credential Analysis

EB1A petitioners showcased robust academic productivity, with publications ranging from 6 to 101 articles (median 19) and citations between 115 and 3,202 (median 724). This reflects both high research output and substantial international impact.

NIW petitioners displayed a broader range of academic records, from 2 to 92 publications (median 10) and citations between 22 and 8,112 (median 142). This variety underscores USCIS’s willingness to approve NIW petitions where work has clear merit and national importance, regardless of citation count.

Insights on Petitioner Backgrounds and Fields

EB1A approvals spanned diverse areas such as clinical medicine, artificial intelligence, advanced computing, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering. Many petitioners were affiliated with top research institutions in postdoctoral or faculty roles.

NIW cases covered fields including environmental engineering, public health, chemical engineering, structural engineering, and energy technology. Applicants often included industry engineers, policy researchers, and scientists whose work addressed pressing U.S. societal or economic needs.

Highlighted Fastest-Approval Case

This week’s fastest non-premium-processing approval came from a National Interest Waiver petitioner in the Medical Sciences field, employed as a General Surgery Resident. The case was filed on May 20, 2025, and approved on July 31, 2025, with only 72 days of processing time. The petition included 92 publications and 8,112 citations. The petitioner’s research addressed critical advancements in surgical techniques and patient care, with direct implications for improving healthcare outcomes in the United States. USCIS recognized the high impact and national importance of this work, leading to a swift approval without premium processing.

Adjudication Trends and Policy Observations

For EB1A, USCIS continues to focus on sustained acclaim, scholarly excellence, and demonstrable field leadership. For NIW, adjudicators maintain flexibility, approving petitions from both early-career and established professionals where the record demonstrates clear national interest.

Overall, these approvals affirm that petitioners who can effectively demonstrate their unique contributions and align their work with U.S. national priorities are well-positioned for success.
