Success Stories: EB1A Approval Received in Just 8 Days for a Data Scientist with Two Major Funding Grants from NASA & NOAA

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for your help!”

On May 5th, 2022, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Data Scientist in the Field of Geographic Image Processing (Approval Notice).

General Field: Geographic Image Processing

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Data Scientist

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New Zealand

Approval Notice Date: May 5th, 2022

Processing Time: 8 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

The EB1A or the Alien of Extraordinary Ability visa criteria is for those non-Americans who can establish that their work is extraordinary through recognition received from national or international institutions, funding grants, and other relevant journal and conference proceeding rankings and impact factors. So, when our client, one of the few geographic images processing experts, approached North America Immigration Law Group to help him file an EB1A petition, we ensured to conduct a comprehensive background check.

Thus, we began investigating his work on improving satellite image analysis, addressing some of our nations and the world’s most pressing issues, including improving knowledge of surface radiation, surface albedo, and reflectance. We confirmed that his work helped develop and allow atmospheric data, climate change, and temperature changes to be analyzed quickly and effectively, which is a benefit to climate scientists in the United States and beyond.

We also discovered that he, as a Ph.D. degree holder in geographical sciences, has spent years investigating issues related to the development of algorithms and other products for imaging processing and data analysis in remote sensing applications and is regarded as an authority in the field. The field has recognized his authority by inviting him to review the work of his peers at least 18 times.

In addition, he has served as a session chair and primary convener for the American Geophysical Union’s annual fall meeting, which is one of the largest meetings of earth and space scientists from around the globe, and his leadership position in these proceedings is proof of his prowess within the field.

Besides, his work has resulted in nine peer-reviewed scientific articles, published in some of the most discerning, high-impact journals and conference proceedings in his field. His discoveries have also gone on to influence his peers i.e., his work has been cited by researchers 236 times in at least 27 countries, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of geographic image processing.

Considering these citations were accrued over a relatively short period of time, it is evident that his research is at the forefront of innovation in his field. Five of his recommenders attested to the same by submitting recommendation letters for our client. Citing two such excerpts taken from two of the five letters:

“[Client’s] research has been a boon to the field of geographic image processing as it provides concrete evidence that the proper handling of remote sensing data via well-designed algorithms leads to an improved understanding of environmental phenomena. The current techniques being used to study climate change and global energy consumption are inefficient and cost-prohibitive. He has shown that a computer science approach to measuring things like surface radiation and albedo is both cheaper and more accurate.”

It is therefore proven that our client met three of the regulatory criteria, but the evidence in the aggregate also demonstrates his national and international acclaim and position at the very top of his field. Thus, he received his EB1A approval in just eight days. We genuinely thank our client for his trust in our law firm and for making us a part of this wonderful winning story.
