Success Stories: In Less Than 5 Months, Our Team Helped a Senior Scientist in Medical Science Hailing from Bangladesh Get NIW Approval without a Request for Evidence (RFE) from USCIS

Client’s Testimonial:

“I’d like to extend my gratitude to your team for exceeding your industry standard! Your support is highly appreciated.”

On April 15th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Senior Scientist in the Field of Medical Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Medical Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Senior Scientist

Country of Origin: Bangladesh

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Japan

Approval Notice Date: April 15th, 2022

Processing Time: 4 months, 6 days

Case Summary:

“[Client’s] research is particularly important to the United States, where cancer is among the leading causes of death. It is, therefore, an issue of the utmost importance for the United States and its citizens. [The client’s] research is focused on the identification and characterization of cancerous stem cells, which are widely considered to be the driving force behind the proliferation of cancer throughout the body. In fact, treatments that focus on cancerous stem cells are already delivering exciting results. [The client] is thus an invaluable resource to the United States and its citizens.”

“Much of [the client’s] work on leukemia has focused on acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is especially common in children and young adults. It makes up nearly 20% of all cancers for people under the age of 20 in the United States. This means that acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the second most common form of leukemia in the United States. Luckily, gene therapy technologies are improving that prognosis. [Client’s] research represents an impactful contribution to these kinds of technologies. It has helped medical professionals identify genetic markers associated with cancerous cell growth, and, in that sense, [the client] is actively contributing to the health and safety of American citizens.”

These are 2 examples taken from two of her 4 letters of recommendation written for our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Bangladesh. As an expert in the field of medical science, her proposed endeavor was to continue her research on investigating the pathways that regulate healthy and cancerous cells in order to develop new therapeutic drugs and organ transplant technologies. It was evident to our team without much further investigation that her work was worthy of the NIW approval. The only thing remaining was to prove this to the adjudicating authorities at the USCIS. We did this by preparing a solid petition with the following information:

  • Her work has resulted in 5 peer-reviewed journal articles (2 of them first-authored).
  • That is, these publications have been cited a total of 170 times according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of medical science.
  • Furthermore, her study has received funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), and the National Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Health, and Nutrition (NIBIOHN) among others.
  • She has also pursued research directly related to her proposed endeavor of investigating the pathways that regulate healthy and cancerous cells to develop new therapeutic drugs and organ transplant technologies for over 14 years

This information helped us customize her petition, winning her the approval only 4 months and 6 days later. We thank our client for her patience and her trust and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
