Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) had the opportunity to work with an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petitioner from Sri Lanka. Our client, who works in the field of polymer chemistry, is developing and synthesizing novel polymeric materials for usage in organic solar cells. As a researcher, she has designed and tested new conjugated polymers with a variety of chemical components for enhancing solar cell devices. Our legal team proved that her pioneering research efforts are contributing to the United States’ energy independence and environmental sustainability.

With a Ph.D. in Chemistry and 10 published papers that have attained over 200 citations, our client was a suitable candidate for EB-2 NIW. Our well-thought-out petition dossier contained relevant information on her professional experience as well as five recommendation letters contributed by other influential polymer chemists. One of these recommenders wrote, “[Client] is an organic chemist who has had incredible results in conjugated polymers for the benefit of organo-electronic applications. These systems are key to renewable solar energy and her understanding of organic, general chemistry and materials science has led to improvements in organic solar cells and her work has provided cheap, effective, and environmentally-friendly energy for the American public.”

The USCIS spent nearly four and a half months adjudicating this NIW case, and we are pleased that they ultimately granted their approval. Our client recently obtained her green card, and we congratulate her for accomplishing her goal of becoming a permanent resident. We also wish her the best with her continued research endeavors in the United States and thank her for working with our law firm.
