Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group is pleased to share that we secured I-140 NIW approval for a neuroscience researcher. The petition was filed on May 2, 2025, and approved on June 8, 2026, following a premium processing upgrade. The client’s proposed endeavor focused on investigating neural mechanisms involved in pain and neurological disorders in order to support the development of more effective and personalized therapeutic strategies.

The client holds an M.S. in physiology and was conducting neuroscience research in a U.S.-based academic research setting at the time of filing. The general field of the case is neuroscience, with the client’s work focused on brain function, pain mechanisms, molecular pathways, and biological processes involved in neurological disorders. We explained that the client’s continued research could help clarify how neurological symptoms develop and how specific biological pathways may be targeted for future therapeutic development.

To demonstrate the client’s significance, we explained how this work addresses the major health and economic burden of neurological disorders and chronic pain conditions in the United States. We showed that the client’s research is valuable because it supports a better understanding of brain disorders and may help guide more personalized treatment approaches for patients affected by pain and related neurological conditions.

We also established that the client was well-positioned to advance the proposed endeavor through a strong record of research productivity, peer recognition, and scientific influence, including:

  • 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, including 1 first-authored article

  • 6 abstracts, all first-authored or co-first-authored

  • 1 preprint

  • 30 citations to the client’s published work

  • At least 8 completed peer reviews

Beyond these objective metrics, we emphasized how other researchers had relied on the client’s work in a range of neuroscience studies and related research areas. One of the client’s papers ranked among the top 10% most-cited articles in its field for its publication year, helping show that the client’s findings had received notable recognition in a field-adjusted context.

We further highlighted the client’s peer review service as evidence of professional trust. By being invited to evaluate manuscripts for respected journals, the client demonstrated recognized expertise in neuroscience and research related to pain and neurological disorders.

USCIS approved the client’s I-140 NIW petition without a Request for Evidence (RFE). We congratulate the client on this important achievement and look forward to the client’s continued contributions to neuroscience, pain research, neurological disorder studies, and improved therapeutic strategies in the United States.
