Filing an I-485 application while the I-140 petition is pending approval:
There are two steps in the green card process: the I-140 petition and the I-485 application. Green card applicants can choose one of three filing options: file the I-485 after the I-140 is approved, file the I-140 and I-485 simultaneously, or file the I-485 while the I-140 is pending approval. In this case, our client opted for the latter option. A major benefit to doing so is saving plenty of time (he shaved several months off the overall wait time) and he received both approval notices less than 2 months apart.
